Verge escapement with quarter hour repeating on 6 bells.
Brass arch dial with with mock pendulum, matted dial centre and silvered chapter ring
with fleur - de - le half - hour markers.
Fine spandrels to arch and dial of unusual design.
Calendar dial to arch with star burst centre.
Top quality hour minute and date hands.
Finely engraved back plate with wheatear bordering, birds, foliate scrolls and central
female figure with wings and trumpet.
The repeating mechanism play the last hour and subsequent quarters.

Maker:
David Hubert was from a long line of French clockmakers dating back to early 1600's.
There are 37 listed Hubert family clockmakers, mostly of France but also some who
settled in London, including Robert Hubert (I) from Rouen who was hanged in 1666 for
starting the Fire of London.
David Hubert (I) was the maker of this clock and came from La Rochelle (France) and
worked in the Strand.
He was a member of the Clockmakers Company from 1714-43 and was succeeded by
Joseph Barnes.
His son, David Hubert (II) of London was apprenticed in 1727 and was also a member
of the Clockmakers Company.
