Case :
Oak square dial with caddy top and unusual crest on roof of hood with gilded finials.
Turned pillars to hood of rare but attractive design.
Long trunk door with wavy top.
Base with bracket feet
Original glass in hood.
Width at widest point 21.5" (Hood).

Dial :
Brass 12" square dial with ringed winding holes and ringed calendar hole.
Matted dial centre with seconds dial and superb original hands.
Silvered chapter ring with fleur-de-lei half hour markers and quarter hour markers.
Good quality Indian head style spandrels.
Roman numerals.

Maker :
The only clock listing for Thomas Stringer, known to have been working c1725 -1780, shows his town as 'Draton' . However, a recent sale in Cheshire had a clock by Thomas Stringer of Mark't Drayton with the engraved signature and town in the same style as this clock.
