Ref: CK-88 Longcase Clock

Watkin Owen of Llanrwst (Wales).

Duration: 8 Day.

Circa : 1785.

Height : 85" excl. finial.

Case :
Oak with long wavy top trunk door.
Arched hood topped with swan necks and brass finials and reeded hood pillars which are repeated to sides of trunk.
Base with box panel and plinth.
Width at widest point 21.5" (hood)

Dial :
The dial was made by James Wilson of Birmingham and has a fly painted on it between 10 and 11 o'clock - these are known as 'Fly Dials' Dial measuring 13" x 18" white painted with flower decorated spandrels, repeated in arch.
Matching steel hour / minute hands.
Aperture calendar mouth. Roman numerals.

Maker :
Watkin Owen was a member of a very prominent clock making and watch assembling family and probably the most productive in the whole of Wales.
Watkin Owen has three watches in the National Museum of Wales.
