Honey coloured oak with mahogany cross banding to hood, case door and base.
Mahogany reeded pillars to hood and quarter pillars to trunk.
Silk backed fret to hood.
Long trunk door with wavy top.
Canted mahogany sides to base with ogee feet.
Width at widest point 22.5 ins (hood).
Dial :
12" square brass dial with unusual 'man's head' style spandrels.
Silvered chapter ring and gilded foliate engraved dial centre.
Recessed seconds dial and recessed large semi - circular date dial.
Quality matching steel hour and minute hands and ringed winding holes.
Roman numerals.

John Dumville died in 1797 in Nether Alderley, near Alderley, Macclesfield having been born c1720. His will was proved in Chester.
His work included longcase clocks like this and three other 8 day clocks have been
noted plus a 30 hour clock c1750 signed Jno. Dumville, Alderley.
He also maintained local church turret clocks and the turret clock at Peover Hall.
