Exceptional quality solid mahogany case work and colour in Liverpool grand style.
Swan necks to hood with verre eglomise panelled frieze below.
Flame mahogany pattern to trunk door and base.
Reeded double pillars each side of hood and reeded quarter pillars to trunk.
Fretwork and dentil moulding to trunk below hood.
Long trunk door with wavy top.
Canted mahogany corners to base, applied panel and ogee bracket feet.
Width at widest point 23 ins (hood).
Dial :
13" x 18.5" brass arch Moon roller dial with attractive landscape scenes.
Makers' names engraved in arch dial.
Silvered chapter ring, seconds dial and high quality engraving to dial centre.
Indian head type spandrels.
Matching steel hour and minute hands.
Roman numerals.
Brass encased weights.

Wyke & Green was a partnership of John Wyke with brother - in - law Thomas Green.
The partnership lasted c1772-81 and Liverpool Museum have a partnership longcase.
John Wyke.
Born pre 1720 and died in 1787. He was also a good watch and clock toolmaker/supplier
and invented a wheel cutting engine. Produced very large catalogue of tools.
His address was Wykes Court, Dale Street, Liverpool and also had premises in Prescott
in 1780. Liverpool Museum have a clock made by him c1770
Thomas Green.
Born pre 1750 and son of Robert Green of Liverpool.
After the partnership dissolved he worked alone:
Temple Street 1781-96
Sir Thomas's Building in 1796
Fleet Street, Liverpool until early 19 century.
Listed in 1822 as 'late' Thomas Green at 59 Fleet Street.
Succeeded by E Green by 1822 working at the Fleet Street address (thought to be son).
