Honey coloured oak cottage style case with caddy top and dentil mouldings to hood,
repeated on hood sides.
Integral gilt capped pillars to hood, quarter repeated at rear.
Long trunk door with strap hinges.
Plinth to base.
Width at widest point 16.75 ins (hood).
Dial :
10" square brass dial with crown and cherub type spandrels.
Chapter ring with half hour markers.
Matted dial centre with round date aperture and birds and basket of plenty engraving
round date aperture.
Matching hands.
Roman numerals.
Makers name engraved as 'Tim Mason Gainsboro'.
Maker :
Known working dates c1730 -1734, address given as Lords Street, Gainsborough.
A copy of Tim Mason's Inventory and personal estate dated 22 January 1734 does
not contain any items of trade listed and the certified value of his assets is
£9.13.6. From this it appears that he was retired when he died in 1734 having
disposed of his stock, work in progress and tools prior to his death.
